The good news for Vegetarians is that lots of dishes can be made with plant-based ingredients.
It just takes a little imagination, a bit of creativity and some tips and guidelines.
1. Tofu Tempeh or Seitan
Made from soybeans or from wheat gluten for Seitan they can replace white meat in any of your recipes.
If you want to keep a meaty taste, Unami Mushrooms are the best.
It has a slightly sweet taste and is perfect for barbecues, in sandwiches, stir fries, or any dishes that use beef, chicken or pork.
Eggplant has a rich, meaty taste and is very versatile. Perfect as burger patties, meatballs with noodles or fried.
Lentils come in a variety of colours, are inexpensive and cook quickly. What a hero ingredient! They could replace ground beef easily in your recipes.
6. Beans & Peas
There are so many varieties they are amazing. Healthy and inexpensive they make for hearty soup, salads, stews and curries. You can make incredible burgers and sausages with them.
Cauliflower can replace chicken in Asian dishes or sliced and grilled as a steak.
Potatoes can be the main ingredient of many dishes, roasted, boiled, baked, mashed or fried, there are many great ways to use them.
Beets are sweet and delicious in salads and you can also roast them .
Even if they are not real "vegetables" they can be used to make vegan burgers and replace meat in your cooking.
